I'd be a bit hesitant to jump to the defence of some boyracers in a subaru over an organised HOG ride... Just my $0.02 worth.

(fair enough, maybe they weren't boyracers - I was being inflammatory there haha).

But... just sounds like bad driving to me.
There was a group of middle aged women in the car, the offending bike was in their lane while overtaking a van and yes ... he was putting himself in considerable danger.

Motorcyclists had better start learning that if we want a voice that is taken seriously we can't be seen condoning the actions of individuals that bring Motorcycling into disrepute.

I can see the headline now.......

    Motorcyclist's actions cause Cheesecutter Carnage.

I have not read all, but...

Seems to me like this situation could be argued till the cows come home.

We have a car off the road apparently avoiding a biker, who may or may have not been riding a Harley. The questions are numerous here. Was it that close, or did the driver panic and take evasive action, resulting in a total loss of control? Was it that close and the driver had no choice but to take evasive action to avoid turning said biker into a hood ornament? Was it the biker being a wanker? Was it the inexperience of the car driver? Was it...?

If I read well enough tonight there is another thread about this incident, the bike in question there being a Ducati of some sort?

What a storm in a tea cup. A car drove off the road, apparently through a cheesecutter barrier. Now that is actually what I am interested in. Did the car go through/under/over these wonderful barriers?

Thank God no one was badly injured here, and hopefully there is insurance to cover any damage done.

Shame us bikers are in for some bad rep though, Tractor or not, we have been called out here.

Uh, theres always plenty of room right down the centerline. It's fair that the lady in the car didn't know that, but the rider will have, or should have.

It wasn't me, but if it was I'd keep my mouth shut, and it if was YOU I would STILL keep my mouth shut.

Do you really expect KBers to put someones neck in the noose? And for what? So the fuzz can fine them for it? What is this going to achieve? Revenge?

The person who did it will by now be aware of the harm they have caused, and I think things like that do ram themselves home quite firmly.

The courts have demonstrated in the past, that the roads are places for ordinary consumers, not just the vastly experienced or daring, so I make no bones about the harm caused - just that I don't think people should put their hands up to face execution.

The other thread is here http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...d.php?t=104462 and I've posted up a couple of photos of the incident.

The highlights ... red bike passes a van on an uphill left hand sweeper into path of oncoming car. Oncoming car swerves to the left and brakes to avoid bike, is bunted up the bum by the following car and because they have swerved left on what to them is a right hand sweeper they are too far gone to get it back straight again. Falls off road and in between deer fence and cheesecutter. Red bike rides on.
