Even I have never argued that exceeding the speed limit is necessarily dangerous. It's the manner in which it's done that counts.

However, the combination of overtaking on blind corners, the fact that he was clearly trying to evade the police and hitting speeds probably in excess of 200kph all go together to indicate a manner of riding that quite clearly could be deemed dangerous.

Anyone that defends that manner of riding is on very shaky ground.

My point was that if you remove the people being overtaken and the police from the equation, he arrived at his planned destination safe and well.

Who would have ever known the difference?

How much truth is there in the other factors?

What was the real element of danger compared to the reporters (other drivers and police) perception of danger?

Bearing in mind that their own perception is their reality and they were "outraged" by the rider's actions! (no bias there, no porkies?)

Have you never heard some driver accuse another of behaving dangerously when there was really no danger at all, except in their "own" mind.

Again, I stress, nothing happened, he arrived at his destination fit and well, as intended so his speed is irrelevant.

I won't bother wading into the normal debate... but there is no way he can go off police radar at only 200kph. I would imagine they simply couldn't get a fix on him... A good fix will still be able register speeds close to 300...

Ok, so his decision making may have been appalling, but clearly his "driving" was quite good cause he made it.
