If we are all just careful enough, nothing bad or good will happen in our lives, and we will die anyway. The only thing worse than dying pointlessly is to live pointlessly.

The people on here that have never broken the speed limit or never done anything dangerous, should get on your soap boxes and declare to all loudly what you think of his actions.

The rest should just sit there and listen to them

Bet this would make for some real "quiet time"

I take fatjim's POV. Overtaking on blind corner is stupid.....but you're all assuming this involved him using the other side of the road and that from the bikers position it was actually "blind". He can't have been going THAT fast or crazy as the car driver was able to get his plate.

I suspect he'll be abroad for a large portion of his license suspension anyhoo.

I reckon what he did was dumb. Running from the cops is dumb.

But why riders continue to run maybe explained by something told to me a supplier I met on Friday. I asked where his brother was 'cos he is into bikes and we like a yarn. 'Off licking his wounds' he said.

He was stopped doing a big speed but not before it took him a few ks to stop. In court he got done for speeding and failure to stop. A 28 day walk, over 3k in fines 50 points but no further ban. Same day, same court a woman in a SUV pulls out of a park and hits a car injuring the driver then drives on the wrong side of the road and hits someone getting out of a parked car.

She drives off and is later caught by the cops at home. Careless use causing injury and failure to stop. What do you think she got? $1750 in fines and some points but no ban. It is the courts not the cops.

So the moral is: if you you are going to do a runner it is better to put a few people in hospital and drive an SUV than not injure anyone but ride a bike.

Trouble is the law won't let you remove the people from the equation. The Act: "A person may not drive a motor vehicle, or cause a motor vehicle to be driven, at a speed or in a manner which, having regard to all the circumstances, is or might be dangerous to the public or to a person." You don't have to crash to be considered dangerous by the courts. The lad is both very lucky and a prat.
