When you've flushed it with oil and got it sorted re route your breather into the air box and put a little filter, soaked in foam filter oil, on the end. You can get little pod filters from supercheap... the boy racers put em on valve cover breathers
Oh mint yep i know excatly what filters you are talking about we use them as oil breathers on cars.....

So just wanting to confirm where the breather is ... ? The black rubber tube coming out the top of the eninge near the spark plug ? and goes down by my gear lever... ?

I ended up using a tiny bit of engine flush (I'm sure ill find out over time if it was good for the clutch or not) and some new oil, run it for about 10mins with out a filter on the stand in first gear idling.... then drained it.... put a new lot of oil in and it looks mint now!!!! Had the mean ride out there on the weekend just been....

Not keen to get water in ther again haha, so keen to relocate this breather

Have alook on thumper, search the yz 450 forum, under breather mods some good stuff on there
The latest mod they do is, the breather comes back from the head and into a y junction, the bottom hoses carrys on down to drain any crap and the other end goes into the air box that way it doesnt mater if the bottom hose is under water as it will breather through the one in the airbox, and because you still have a hose that drains to the bottom of the bike no crap goes into the airbox
if you think life is 2 short , get a taller one

We all knew that was gonna happen, "power rider" didn't do the trick then?

We're planning on Tangi this Sunday coming and possibly Poti or Long Gully (dependant on weather) Sat arvo, welcome to join us either day

Drain the oil and replace the filter and oil. And run. Any very small remaining amount of water will evaporate. Draining and replacing the oil 2 or 3 times will be a watse if you give the bike a good run daily or so. If it will be a few weeks before the next ride, then there may be merit in so doing to prevent a little rust.

If you want to check after an hour or 2 of running, drain a teaspoon full into a teaspoon and heat with a ciggi lighter. Any remaining water in the oil will cause the oil to spit like chips in hot oil.

If you are concerned that it moisture may come from your cooling system instead of outside contamination, Take 200 ml of the oil to your local caterpillar dealer, Buy an oil sample bottle from the parts store, and post to the lab with a note to "please test for positive glycol" Sodium and probably Potasium and a positive glycol result will confirm your worrst concerns.

    About $35....

@ barty and rittr: fuck ya's, hah. haven't been on the power rider for even longer than i haven't been on the bike... there was no motivation if i couldn't ride (and it was fucken hard on the gammy shoulder when i did try it). Took up smoking again due to depression lol, also a throwback of not riding...

Evoetr, sounds crazy. how the hell can ya ride with pit bikes and a 4wd? I'll probably have to skip this weekend but will probably go up there next.

Rittr. txt me next weekend and let us know your plans. Sorry i forgot to txt ya on sunday morn and didn't get your text till we'd left on sunday (no reception)
