Ah, 'Christmas on a stick' won't start.
I have reconected everything back up, turned the gas back on, put the key in the ignition and the NC30 won't start, I have no idea what-so-ever what it could be.. It wants to start..but nothing... and I can't afford to get it looked at befor next week

Look for the obvious.
Unplugged wires, loose bits etc. If nothing, leave it until next week, unless someone can go around and have a look see?

how can you go from taking forks off, to not getting it to start?
Check the wiring around the top of the engine then, see if you've caught anything accidently, and around the dash too. Else I think you might have to find someone who knows a little more to actually look at it.. If you want to wheel it up, I don't mind lookin for ya..
