Perfect for Iain's 950, the bridge will swing wildly so he will ride across straight as a die while the rest of us wobble across

If you get permission you require something like $1000000.00 public liability insurance and last time we tried , the only time we could get in was over winter. In the summer its too dry and no one gets in. Some years ago "Diesel" tried to use the paper road method to gain access for a tunnel tour and the forestry got shitty and said they had survey proof that the road as it exists does not follow the "paper road" and if he used the road they would do him for trespassing. John Nicholson got involved and managed to pull some strings and calm things down and Diesel was able to use it. When I set out the Briiton ADV ride some years ago we managed to gain permission by using the TeWera camp as a base. Last time I enquired this approach didnt work.IMHO Its NOT worth the trouble unless your running a big ride.
Cheers for that Phil, came across it the other day listed in a Mountain Bike trails book but thought that I had better check before I went out there exploring We know how sensitive and easily upset some who are on the other side of the fence can be he said with all due respect

We are looking to hold this ride on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October.

Just sorting out accomodation options at the moment, but we will stay at the Awakino pub on Friday 2.10.09. As those who have stayed there before know this is a great place to start a ride, good food, accomodation and prices!

There will be a visit to the iconic Whangamomona pub for lunch and for those of you who want there will be a chance for a quick look at the world famous Whanga Road.

Saturday night we are looking at staying at a former convent, yes I know that may be a problem for you sinners who ride BMWs!!!

Again a good mix of gravel and tar seal.

Once we have it confirmed I will post a new thread etc with details of how to book your accommodation.

For now though if you are going to do this ride can you reply to this so we can get an idea of numbers.

    Mike and Phil

Oh well, I'll have to pass with those dates...will be back in the territory then on our way down to Melbourne.

Prolly just as well...seems a scrap could brew over some folks insistance that they should be able to ride some so-called 'paper road'!!!! ( would be good to know, honestly, how most townies would like all sorts of odd-bods traipseing thru 'their' backyard if there was a public easement or such like thru it?

It would be a very differant story thens my guess!!!
I'm no gynaecologist, however I would be happy to take a look......................
