    Backprotectors have (generally) a hard shell (generally plastic) which stops the shock of and object doing huge amounts of damage.. Saved me major discomfort a number of times from when i have highsided...

    my new spike one piece dose... a token piece of of foam with a slighly harder bit of plastic over the top.
    completly dont trust it, a mate has offered me his old one (for a small koha) so will look forward to using that when racing in a couple of weeks!!
