    Are those for river crossings?

I got some W2's and they have good grip. Think I'm heading out this weekend with you, I'll show you. They were cheap too and have lasted very well.

my experiance with boots with grip is that if theres mud or wet dirt the tread just acts as a mud collector and you end up a few inches taller with heavy feet and still no grip.

Hmm maybe just get a dremel or grinder and cut some tread patterns in your boots?

The trials riders use a boot that is a lot softer, without a steel cap but they are made to grip slippery riverbed rocks for example when they prewalk their sections.

Less protection in the shins, a bit shorter but a lot more comfortable for walking. They would be alright in the gnarly slow stuff. A couple of guys I rode with in Hawaii were on trials bikes and they used them, they didn't do a lot of walking or stopping though, they just rode over everything.

Ha....Ha.... ha.... I like them. Trouble is if you jumped off with them on you never get back on a again! You'd be stuck all day in the same spot!

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And now a third thing a bloody big gun to shoot theives with!

Also what are the dangers of having a boot with grip compared to a flat boot like most Motocross boots?
I had a pair of Sidi's like Birchy's , I thought they were not bad, surprising traction, certainly better than the Gaerne SG10's in the mud, not perfect, but a good compromise.
