New plug caps

Well what a difference new plug caps have made to Mrs NN's little Balius.

The miss at 6000rpm seems to be gone, starts really easily so just looking forward to a test ride I reckon its going to go like a rocket.

Anyway to the point of this post, the OEM caps aren't readily available so I swapped them with generic NGK SD05FM ones. The only difference between these and the originals are a rubber seal at the top of the cap that seals the spark plug recess from the elements.

Now I know I'm not the first person to have gone down this path as lots of older Kawasaki's used the same plug cap.

So does anybody have any bright ideas as to how I can keep the weather out of the recess now?

On my zuki the rubber seals came off the caps - not the same?

Looks like the seals should be removable from the OEM caps....

Nope unfortunately not, the seals definately don't come off - and I've got a confession to make the photo of the OEM ones isn't identical but it does illustrate the problem.

Short of doing the job properly and moulding some replacement seals, what detrimental effects do you think I might encounter by using some grease soaked cotton wool to pack out the recess?

As the engine warms the grease will separate and wick down into the plug cap. What about drilling the center out of a rubber door stop then shaving a taper to match the recess?

Or a rubber bath plug. You cant bastardise the old ones and use the caps off those?
