    Fun spoilers

With the odd fine day we have been having lately I have been blowing out the cobwebs with a few local rides around Kumeu/Waimauku/Helensville and trying to practice some of the finer points of riding....you know usual stuff, delaying tip in point, weight shift/knee down and experimenting with counter steer and throttle control during cornering. A lot is what I have been doing intuitively for years in one form or another but never really understood exactly why we do it and how it should be done corectly. Managed to come close to soiling myself a few times when I overcooked it or the sunstrike/shade/damp spots halfway round a corner issue made seeing the road a major.
Anyway my point is during the course of all this I have noticed a couple of speed cameras that seem to be regulars in this area.
One is a Japanese racing green Mitsi L300 van and the other, which may have nabbed me the other day, a non descript silver Jap SUV (like a Honda Odessey).
Both of these have been regularly hanging out between Brighams Creek and Waimauku/Woodhill. Favorite places seem to be Brighams Creek Rd, Just off SH 16 down past the little bridge, Waimauku (just after the Muriwai turnoff heading to Helensville where the speed limit drops from 100 to 70) and also on Old North Rd (a Km or so past the Gun club heading to Helensville). This last one is a real bummer as it really spoils this great bit of twisty road thru the forest.
Just take care when going for a ride North via SH16 and keep an eye out for them. I also noticed an unmarked patrol car on the NW motorway that had pulled a car over. It was a silver Nissan Maxima.....didn't know they had those!
    I follow the 50/50/90 rule.
Anytime I have a 50/50 chance of getting it right there is a 90% probability I will get it wrong

Most likely one of these: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/road-safet...ectid=10561616

For those with radar detectors, these new vans are using a digitally pulsed K band signal which is difficult to detect with low end equipment. The frequency is approximately 24.100 GHz.

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares? ...He's a mile away and you've got his shoes
