2009 Fat Bob ... Can you help me?

Does anyone in the Wellington region own a 2009 or there abouts Harley Davidson Fat Bob with Mid Pegs?

And if you do .... are you prepared to let me have a look and a sit and maybe a try to see if the Fat Bob is for me.

I love the styling of this bike. I am 5 ft 3 and not keen on the forward pegs tho. Granted I haven't test ridden it but then the motorcycle shop will only let it out for a test if you commit to buying.

    Anyone? Anyone at all?

    Cheers in advance.

    I agree ...

They want to sign it up with a 99% commitment to buy with a subject to test ride clause before they will allow it to go out and then you can go around the block only!

I guess is saves unnecessary k's on the new bikes but bites when you are trying to get a feel literally for the best bike for you.

Do they have a street bob? They have both peg options too.

It would be lower and easier to flat foot than your Bonneville. Pegs are about the same with the mid controls.

On my Fat Bob I regularly drag my heels on corners and that's not riding hard at all and it's with forward pegs. Wouldn't expect mid pegs to last long to be honest. Pulls like a f'kin' train I'll say that much though sixth gear is too tall and there's a case for using a smaller front primary sprocket.

Can't believe your dealer won't just let you out and about on a bike. I've spent a full day on a shop HD before now just to get a good idea before signing up (but that's in Christchurch).

Not in NZ BD...we only get them with FC...and it costs a bomb to convert them as you need a different inner and outer primary cover etc.

Blame the Aussies...it's because they only want them with FC...so we get lumped with that too.

Nah that is the XT. All dual sport capability has been removed.

Nada long travel suspension, tall seat or reinforced wheels - and a whole heap of stuff I don't need.

The only way Buell will get me for repeat business is if they put the Helicon engine in the Ulysses chassis. They have about 2 years. :-)

Just to put our side of the story in here...there are approx 30 different models in the HD range...do you seriously expect us to have a demo avail of each one...let alone the 30 diff Suzuki models...and 5 odd Buells? Get real. We have ONE Fatbob avail for the rest of the year...it's THE biggest seller and THE most popular model right now. WHY would we turn the ONLY new avail one we have left into a demo if it's only for a ride? The customer in question has every right to want to see what a current Dyna is like to ride with mid mount controls...so she was given an FXDL, and an FXDC to ride. Both have mid mounts...both are exactly the same to ride, bar a slightly wider front tyre and another disc on the front. We're only too happy to wet up any bike in the shop...demo or not..IF the customer is wanting to buy it subject to a test ride. BUT...we don't and can't be expected to let all and sundry ride any old bike when there's other ways around it.

    Open your own shop mate...Id love to ride a new RMX450...an RMZ 450...the 250 just because...an RM250...cause I'm not sure if I still like two strokes...a DRZ 400...a Busa...a B-King...GSXR 1000...every single cruiser in the range...and um...oh yeah...your sister.

    Dreamer. You have no idea.

Does your dealership stock more than one brand then? Was saying in another thread how hard it can be to get out of one brand for another when it often necessitates going to another dealership where you'll be offered less for your 'alien' brand bike because it's not one they generally sell.

Wish there were more multiple-brand dealers out there.
