Sounds like your having a 'bit of a moment' there....

Definition: The lawful consort of a man; a woman who is united to a man in wedlock; a woman who has a husband; a married woman; correlative of husband.

    Wrong? Wrong??
I don't think so...very useful to have about the place, these things.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Mrs B. CANNOT STAND the term "the wife". She finds it extremely derogatory.

That is one of the reasons we won't marry, so I never get the chance to say it.... so all I can call her now is "the defacto".

We're both too old for him to call me his 'girlfriend'.

So as a result, he has to call me by my name!

Well, I am a feminist and I don't mind what he calls me (as long as it's not The Megabeast or something, but I think he'd be too afraid to anyway (well, to anyone who may tell me he said that... ))

Mom I was going to say something but I'm too chicken.LOL
I call my wife many things, she too doesn't like the "the" wife phrase.
So I try very very hard not to use the 'the' and wife in the same sentence.
Sometimes I fail, she is so good to me cause I'm still breathing air and taking up space. She loves me.

I'm not a fan of being called "The Wife" (lucky for me, I am not one anymore ), but I hate "The Missus" even more, and men tend to use the latter even when they are not married.

There is no male equivalent either...."the husband"? Sounds daft.

While the MOM has a point, and I'm sure the MAHA smells what the MOM is cookin', the BABELFISH thinks the MOM rarely would be called the WIFE by the MAHA...so is getting pissed off by other blokes antics....or is the MAHA in strife with the WIFE?

(it should be noted the BABEL would be more careful if not seperated by the length of the North Island from the MOM)

well I don't know about being reffered to by any possibly derogatory/insulting names, cause I usually get forgotten to be introduced to or remembered on special occasions etc blah! blah! blah!

would rather be know as something, then nothing

    sorry that was overly depressing

    damn, no emo smilie (haha!)
