Had a picture of a 490 Sand Spider on my wall as a nipper. . . . Not that I would have been able to start it (then or probably now).
It's more how horn it looks than how they went...although they were pretty good for old skool 4 strokes!

Think I've got my hands on a nice RM400N for some vintage moto-x work. I had an RM400C at age 15...rode it to school for fun. Always wanted the 'N' though...one of the prettiest dirt bikes ever built I reckon.

I visited a friend in Chch in the weekend - he had a beautifully restored Triumph 500, two pristine BSAs (a 250, and a Lightning 650) and some pre-unit 650, IIRC, that he was still putting together.
It fired me up about getting something similar, but when I got home, and thought about it, and had a quick gander on TardMe, even the bikes I thought were really kewl in the '70s would be a mission to keep on the road. I'd still like a Ducati one day - I've always loved the older 750s and 900s, but the bike I really lusted after when I was 17 was the 450 single ('Silver Shotgun').

Maybe a modern classic would be the way to go...
    Hmmmmmm.......
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    Nice Bike Squirter

Would my '01 CR500 , zero hour, still new ...last model Honda 2 Stroke 500 make it into the bracket as a classic ?

    Surely ...?

Not yet. But keep it long enough and it'll be worth a shitload!

    I had a CR480...left side kickstart as a yoff. C*nt of a thing.

I'll hang on to it for a while then, know what you mean about the kickback thing ...I used to race a YZ360 , started it one morning with only a pair of trainers on, laces undone and no socks .....it kicked back and my leg was purple for a week....then it turned green

Most of the time they only bite if you don't show them who the boss is and kick them half heartedly. But when the kicker is on the left side...it was just plain awkward anyway!!!

Hmmm, maybe back then they stood their Bikes up, Bike on the right , cheered their aggressors with a hoot and a finger in the air ..kicked the Bike alive with the right foot then ...jumped on !

    Me thinks not somehow ....hmmm

I still have a torn calf muscle sheath thingy from starting a YZ465 and not paying attention. It still gives me trouble 20+ years later...
