Smart choice Mr Beeza , the Mk3 is a much sweeter bike than the Mk1&2 and after the Mk3 they just got heavier and slower and more outdated. The Mk3 is my pick for an appreciating Guzzi, buy one now before they get out of (price) range.

The alloy bike (unless there is more than one) is in the showroom of Macs Yamaha in Upper Hutt, and last time I looked it had a GS motor. If the story I've been told is correct, it's not the full Yoshi motor, has standard pistons

Clearly you haven't been there this year, its sitting in my basement!
you are correct that it doesn't have the full yoshi motor having a standard top end but the correct top end sit within a couple of metres of it and will be going back on sooner rather than later

Correct I haven't been to the shop for while.
What will you do with the bike once it is built up? Seems too nice just to have it sitting on display.

Memory fading, but I think two ally ones were built, or rather one was ripped in two in a crash & rebuilt. Or was that one of the kevlar ones? Too long ago & magazine buried too deep to find out. Jelly will of course know.

Just picked me up a 73 750 commando dirt cheap off a mate !
So the collection has been started (as far as classics go)

The complete tear down and rebuild will start as soon as i clean the garage out and find myself a bench to sit it on lol

Hope to be racing it this summer !!!

Will be at manfeild on the 30th to pick the brains out of all the norton racers !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Its on its way back to maccas just waiting on a photo session with a couple of original GS1000's and the Plastic fantastic combined and of course a nice day.
As for future use, the original head and barrels are to go back on and it can be ridden for dispaly use but not in anger.

501 Maico.Like keeping a poisonous snake in a glass case - you know you are never going to take it out and give it cuddle...not if you don't want to die.But nice and scary to look at.Got offered a 400 for a good price once....but it wasn't a 501,only a 501 would do.
