Yes having basic frist aid is a really good thing to have when you ride a bike. Remember though, we are bikers, we dont usually carry, and in a lot of cases have no room to carry comprehensive equipment.

Knowing a few simple things like ABC and being able to staunch some bleeding is about all you should be worrying about on the side of the road. So, some clean cheese cloth, some panadol for the headaches, a few bandaids, some water and a cell phone is the extent of my first aid kit. Oh I sometimes carry quickeeze too, never know when you are going to need that.

This is all you need. Keep yourself safe, then a cell phone to 111 and follow the instructions, know exactly where you are, then basic ABC's and bleeding control.
I asked Speedie, he should know.

I carry a puncture kit tucked down in the frame but never thought about first aid. Apparently I think I'll get a flat tyre before I fall off. I think I'll invest in some basics. What would be in the basic kit?

Oddly enough the emergencies I imagine first are getting something lodged in my finger and needing tweezers or getting something in my eye. I can't imagine an off where a band aid would be useful. I also tend to use nature's plaster.

    Interesting post.
