For the friday trip down so far we have

Sounds like the hotel may be running short on accommodation (yea, I know - you snooze, you lose ...- my bad) Waiting for them to get back to me on the situation. If no go on that, does anyone know of suitable alternative? If I can get accommodation sorted somewhere where a tent is not required, I'm in for the Fri trip down, Saturday is still up in the air a bit.
hi i booked a cabin iat http://www.taumarunuiholidaypark.co.nz/
there tidy and warm, great hot gas showers,
its a much better option than a tent.
eddieb and my self are planing to camp here on sat night.

Alternative accomodation is either Taumaranui or National park (ski lodges), I haven't organised anything either at this stage but there is bound to be a few places to kip in.....
yip same cabin as last time, no 1 , just got a positive reply from NICKi, the owner, and shes more than happy for us to stay again.

Right, i thought it might be a good idea to find out exactly who is coming and
where everyone is staying so i have posted the ride up on the calendar HERE so we can indicate our attendance .
Not trying to Hijack anyones thread Mark or Chris.![]()
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time
Have put myself down.
Are you going to manage a list of who, or numbers of who's staying where? It sounds like there are 2 distinct accomodation locations at the moment that are ~50km apart.
Of course all the cool people are staying at Taumaranui![]()

Are you guys staying there on Friday night as well?
There was some 4wd track you talked about a while ago from the 4wd book you got me - below Taihape - would you/Eddie whoever be interested in having a look on the way up on Friday? - I'm easy but I intend to make a full day of it on Friday.
Thanks Mark - I've enrolled- I hadn't expected enough people to be interested to bother with a calendar thingy....
cheers

Just a wee heads up on this possible route c.h.r.i.s.
There indeed is a bridge that crosses over the upper Whanganui from hwy43.
It becomes Paparora Rd, (mainly sealed), which has a gravel road,(Te Maire Valley Rd) off it about 1km from the bridge. This road doesn't appear to join up with Whanganui Valley Rd.
My road info source is off 07 Land Info Map 1:50 000 scale.
So you might have to use the Hikumutu-Owhango gravel road. (still an excellent bit of metal)
If I get a chance I'll do a sorte, or contact the Tauramanui roading dept.

I'm just about to go to work (night shift) so will look at accomodation tomorrow for friday and sat nights. Is there good safe parking for car and trailer at the Taumarunui cabins place?
Andy.
