Myself and Devil are booked in at the camp grounds for saturday night now.
Sounds like numbers are swelling.
Hope the weather is good or I am going to need some better tires.

You and Joe should join the real men who will take Friday off and do some exploring on the way up
none of this namby pamby 'leave Welly at 5am on Saturday' stuff
If anyone is interested in joining me I'm going to leave Paraparaumu at 8.30ish on the Friday morning and take a convoluted route to Taumaranui for Ftiday night.
Might have a look at Kaweka Rd and Ridge Rd South on the way up .. or maybe this...

That road is in the 4x4 book. It's been on the 'when I'm next going past' list for a while.
Also there's a canal up that way that has a loop, follow the canal access road down and loop round a track back to the main road.

I might tag along with you Mark. I'll see what happens a bit closer to the time. Got a few days off work oweing, but doesn't always work out.
Turned up Friday night, stayed in the 10 Man Hut (cold as charity - prolly got to -5 over night), completed the track yesterday AM. River crossings were tricky, but if yer careful you'll be OK (never underestimated water pressure pushing on a big bike).
I rode up the rock face on the 950, standing up, feet on the pegs - maybe the best bit of trials riding I've ever done (and STretch filmed it!).
Ooo I might be spending the saturday at Manfeild instead!
I'm out I'm out I'm out I'm out I'm out I'm out I'm out

I'm in.
Pair of D606's going on this weekend. Would have gone more aggressive but I refuse to go ghey and join the trailer trash to get there.
Friday and Saturday nights booked at Taumarunui. Looked at Owhango for Friday but figured both nights at T'nui means I can leave non essentials there Saturday and know that I have some dry clothing. The way I ride (fall off), I'll need it.
Right, where's the Friday assembly area for Orkers and what time?
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.
I had planned to tag onto whatever c.h.r.i.s. put together.
I have taken Friday as leave and so have all day available and a full day on the gravel appeals.
However, as I recall, c.h.r.i.s. was planning a fairly leisurely pace with plenty of sightseeing stops and so using a fair bit of seal in the early stages.
Personally, I am happy to up the ante and go all gravel.
I will have a brand new pair of 606's to settle in after all.

I had been planning a bit of a casual trip down, not really an organised ride of any sort.
If you guys want to organise it (being I am a new rider, and do not know the area that well, I may not be the best guide/organiser) and plan a route I would probably be keen to tag along with that.
By the looks of it I may be starting from outside Hamilton on the friday, making it only a 300-400km trip down to Owhango, thinking something like this.
I am sure Devil and johannvr will be happy to join onto whatever route ends up happening.
