    Maximum

Whatever bike you have chosen to buy/own for whatever reason is known only to you. The choices are vast to say the least. I have read a few posts today on another thread (that sparked this thread) where there maybe a little concern as to those that buy a sports bike, that they dont really need one, because they cant/dont ride it like they stole it.

    Heres a question...

Who here owns a bike that, when they are road riding, gets the maximum out of what their bike has to offer?
I for one dont, and can clearly state that I never will, but I will continue in the future, to buy/upgrade a bike that best suits my needs.

    I do. Sports-commuting bro.

Extra points for wheelies, >200km/h etc in Akl traffic.

Best idea Renegade Master ever had.

For every kilometre, you are allowed one minute to commute it. (So 25 minutes for me)

For every minute under the "par" for your course, you get 20 points.

For every wheelie on the way, you get 20 points.

For every stoppie, you get 30 points.

For every time you lanesplit at more than 1.5 times at local speed limit, you get 30 points.

For every powerslide you get 10 points.

For every pedestrian mown down, 20 points if they get up, or 40 points if you nailed 'em right.

40 points for running from the rozzers, and 80 points if you escape whilst still on one wheel.

100 points if someone posts up a thread on KB bitching about the biker with the numberplate 12ABC and they're referring to YOU.

Who said commuting had to be boring?

Define the maximum a bike has to offer?

If its speed/performance... hell, I came incredibly close to lowsiding my ZX10 off a nice steep drop because I pushed it too hard through a corner, and the front washed out. I would have had it reasonable close to traction limits etc, but it isn't safe is it?

What if your definition of maximum is more about what you can do?

My KTM has been to cape reinga twice, bluff once, ridden for just over 23hrs virtually non-stop and has only been out on roads for about 8 months. Beaches, Forestry roads, highways, (and even a field) its done everything.

Yep, I can say I get the maximum out of the KTM, and its freaken fantastic. But a very different view from the performance maximum of a bike...

    The maximum what, Maha?

I think your question is quite wide as I see it, even though I think I know what you mean.

I could argue that I get maximum fun out of the bike every time I ride it. But I don't get maximum speed out of it every time I ride it and nor do I get maximum lean every time I ride it.

I suppose I rank the joy of riding it above all else and in that sense, yes, I do get maximum out of it every time...

    Get a perm.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I can get a Kmph for every CC. Is that maximum enough?

Anytime I go on a group ride the Bandit gets ridden to it's maximum potential.

Ask SharperXB who saw the sparks coming off the centre stand.

As I said in the 'other' thread, how close to safety edge are you going to ride on the road? Some people are prepared to roll the dice more regularly.

My old RG50 did a genuine 105kph (117 indicated). Is that all we need?

Riding any bike to the 'max' on the road would be ill advised.

I think I've used the max potential I could ever get out of my dirtbikes, but there are others that would ride them faster or scale crazier Trials obstacles. What counts?
Don't you look at my accountant.

where opinion holds more weight than fact.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
