    Triumph 675 owners

Just a question about sprockets etc.

I've been told that if you want to change the sprockets from standard that you have to buy a different chain, and replace both sprockets, is that right?

Also whats the best way to do it to lower the gearing for more acceleration, 1 off the front or add to the rear?

Bill, what is your sprocket combo on your 675, it felt bloody great on Sat.

drop one on the front. No chain change required. Assuming its in good nick.
Dropping one on the front allows the front to come up easier in 2 and third and still gives a top speed of 260 or so.
You drop about 10kph max from indicated at 100kph

    Cheers Sly.

Have just ordered a new black one this morn, with all the shit on it.
Exhaust, filter, ECU tune, 1 tooth down, etc.

So about 110kph is roughly 100?

Still cant understand why they say ya need to change the chain as well, though going to a lighter chain than the 525 cant hurt i guess !

I had mine geared real high(or is that low) on sat mate 15/49 combo, but i'm as slow as fuck and set it up that way for the short track, cause i kept wanting to go down into first in the tight corners (and that aint pretty) Have hit the limiter down the full back straight at taupo though, so picking as i get quicker i'll be dropping the rear again !

See if ya can beg or borrow a GPS to chuck on the new bike for a few days to give ya acurate speed readings to compare with the new gearing !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Dunno Bill, but something about the rear being a different pitch, but it's all irrellevant now, doing the front one only which is compatible with the existing new chain.

Yeah, thats low gearing yours mate.

If ya do want to change the rear in the future mate ! Just check they aint gone to a 530 pitch chain or something silly like that for the 2010 model !

Ya looked into what changes have been made to the 2010 model at all ??

Just fairings do the race set for a grand and comes with a screen, cant remember if i paid freight but be worth looking into the cost of an OEM screen with that lot on trade me !

Note : the white race fairings look to be OEM too !
but the screen on my race fairings is way smaller than OEM ! Buyer beware lol

Billy on here does race fairings as well ! Not sure at what cost

I like the look of the plug in quick shifter connection on the 09-10 models.

Here's another short cut for ya when ya ready to Modd ! Keep an eye out for a speed 3 throttle tube !
Speed 3 takes about a 1/4 turn out ! R1 takes more (prob half) but can be vicious on corner exit ! both fit !

Or ya can build your own using milk bottle tops, cutting the plastic rim off the cap at the same width as the tube cable ledge then slowly glueing more on top of each other spacing it further round the ledge, you can keep it mild at the first twist (so not to touch the gas on exit of a corner and get full throttle) but camber the tube beyond 1/4 turn so it only needs a slight twist to get full noise ! Bit of fucking around glueing bits on to increase the camber but worth it after you realise how far you have to twist yr wrist with the 675, Almost a two step grab to get full throttle !

or ya can just buy race ones lol
