No.
There a fuck load of poseurs out there who buy shit on borrowed money, who can't even afford to support the debt.
So what happens is, their possession/bike/car/boat/bach/house owns them, not the other way around. Chipping away at their 45 hour a week job just so they can pay the bank, their bank manager and their credit card company.
Yea?
i personally, borrowed money for my bike mainly cause yamaha had a real good deal on finance (4.99 compared too 11.99-ish) and can afford to make payments etc cause i manage my money. i must say thou that you are right, there is also alot of finace companies giving money to these "poseurs" (well atleast there used to be untill they all fell thru).
I voted "no coz I have a pretty average income I guess and have owned some fairly average bikes. Recently had a choice... new carpet or gorgeous brand new bike...just bought a cheap mat to cover the holes, not planning on being home enough over summer to worry about it!
absolutly.im not saying everyone with a flash car/bike evens owns it they most likely dont.im sayingits acommon perception,or at least i thought it was, look at the tossers you see wearing $500 sunnys or wont wear it cos it doesnt have alabel, why?,to look like they got money
Nut. Seem to recall a tale of some poseur trying to break a top speed record on a flashy Ducati. Trouble was he was in debt up to his eyeballs and left his creditors high and dry.Originally Posted by someone on a different page
Totally and utterly disagree with that statement. Lotsa peeps own a bike they can't afford and lotsa other peeps own a bike that's way cheaper than "the best" they can afford.Originally Posted by Maha
Nope. Better things to spend money on*.
I had a flashy sportsbike as a student and it was all on finance...couldn't afford fark all else though. Conversely, as a "high income earning sports bike fan" I ran around on a $1000 fooked XJ550 that had about 250,000Km's on the clock. One of the senior programmers (a.k.a. very bright, very high earning uuuber geek) ran about on a CB100. He would rave about how he could ride it for 2 weeks on 5 quid's worth of petrol.

I have thought about changing it because I love the mean look of some of the sports bikes I ride with, but in reality - the bandit does everything I want it to do (after a few mods).
I guess I could upgrade to a 'flasher' bike, but I actually get a bit of pleasure riding with some nice sports bike, keeping up (almost) on my POS $4000 bike

If someone wants to look down on me because they earn more than me then so what? I will just look down on them because they are a cunt!
Insulting your bike? No one needs to like a bike apart from the person that owns and rides it! I like some bikes more than others - but that is only my personal preferences, when I go to buy a bike I will decide what I want to ride and wont be giving a rat's arse what anyone else thinks of any bike.
Ride your own ride mate!
I agree with a lot of the comments here smokey, just ignore the tossers.
I rode a vespa for 4 years before I got the Triumph, I didn't give a toss what people thought - I still think the vespa (PX200) is cool. I saved hard for a year, got rid of my credit card debts and stuff so I could get the triumph, I earn a pretty modest salary, I bought what I could afford. But then, at the moment at least, I can't think of any other bike I'd rather have.
And - here's something to laugh about. First bike - Honda CB100 (hardcore!)
I rode it for years like a dirtbike, I got pinged for doing a wheelie up Waiwhetu Road (Lower Hutt)It was a dog of a bike, haha, but I still loved it at the time.
oh yea - for those wondering how tf you wheelie a CB100, full revs in second, clutch flick and pull up hard - haha.
(I haven't even thought about it on the thruxton![]()
