Thanks guys!! Wow! No wonder I was dreaming about riding 2 strokes all night - you've really got me thinking!
Still leaning towards the idea of a 150R though...but I should ride a 2t before I rule them out huh?
How much more maintenance are we talking with a 150R, more frequent oil changes and what else? And how much maintenance does a 85 2t need in comparison please?

Yeah the 85, cool bike! Pity you're not up here! I've put a flywheel on it and getting use to the kick! Come on crfchick, try a 2 stroke. You get use to the power. You're brave enough to be on a dirt bike, you can get aggressive!

I've heard the 150 is like a race bike and is really fast, but needs a lot of maintenance! Sounds like you'd be better off with a 125. They're light and although height will be a problem, get it lowered! You're tall, you're lucky!
I wish I was up your way too Midget! I've heard so much about your bike! I'm tempted to come up to the Sandpit once you've got your new muffler and pipe and check it out, hehe!
Does anyone in Welly ride a "tamed down" KX85 or similar?

I'd go into Kawasaki down there and see if you can have a sit, or even a ride of one! Of course I'm all for them now. The weight is absolutely amazing. I have much more confidence to ride the blues, and even the reds! The oil change was easy peasy! The filter is so tiny, it's easy as well, compared to the 250. In my box of goodies with the bike I got all the parts for an entire rebuild at 100 hours. It's heaps cheaper than my old bike to do pistons, etc.

I'm doing the oil every 8 hours and filter every ride, well nearly every ride! That's all, no other maintenance!

and she means clean it not replace it!
Just means a Kero wash, then a dynamo wash, let it dry and re filter oil it!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

How do these prices compare with a new 150R just out of curiosity? Thanks!

I have been riding for about a year and have a CRF230 but it’s too heavy – especially when I’ve crashed off multiple times! I have read Midget’s post about getting a 150 but I don’t want a 2 stroke (I’m not aggressive enough!). I’m just under 5 foot 6. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!!
Anything with small wheels cannot be lent over, like a real motorcycle. Hence if your riding a crappy bike with crappy little wheels, your not riding or even learning how to ride a real motorcycle. Scoots etc have a limit on how far you can lean it over, where as a motorcycle with the larger wheels will lean much further, adding safety, control, more speed and enjoyment to your riding experience. Ive ridden a scoot with little wheels many a time and the only one I particularly liked was the Mrs's street magic. However when she made me promise to stop doing stoppies, it just became another rubbish scoot to me and I went back to riding a real motorcycle.
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.
