Yamaha WR250 forks?

Do the stock forks from my 07 wr250 swap straight over to yz;s of corresponding years- thinking bout changing but would wanna keep my beauty suspension as ive only just got the settings right

Have a search on the net Yamaha site would be a good place to start and see if they're at the same offset. then get a vernier caliper and measure the outer diameter of your fork tubes. Offset won't matter but may give you an idea of how it's gonna affect the handling.

Are you gonna buy a YZ with the prerequiste that you can swap forks or you gonna keep the WZ aswell?

haven't found fork angle info but the front fork tube dia on an 08 yz250 is 48mm

And so is an 07 wr250f

The forks are the same size and are able to be swapped over.
But I wouldn't advise it.
The WR forks are cartridge type forks (old school/old tech/not the best)
The YZ forks are twin chamber SSS forks ( the best/latest tech/sweet forks)

All the top teams that run WR's around the world run full YZ suspension all round.

The standard settings in 08 & 09 YZ & YZF forks are really good and get a lot of good reviews in all the overseas mags.
If you are not pro level & not a fat bastard you may need them softened just a touch, which a good suspension tuner can do for cheap if you ask them to leave the overall valving and just remove a couple of shims to soften the stroke initially.

Now that I think of it you would also need to swap the axle carriers between the two bikes, because the calipers are not the same, also fairly sure the axle size maybe different (I no this because I run YZ forks on a WR I rode for abit last year), mind you, you could always run the entire WR front end to get around this.

I agree with Wrfracer. The 09 YZF450 we for tested mag had awesome suspension very plush compared to some of the other 450 mx bikes

hmmmm. cheers guys good info .just wanted to be sure that i wouldnt have some suspension that wouldnt suit the cause and would be up to scratch which sounds like it is. this goes for 2ts also?

Yes 2 & 4stroke YZ's have these forks 07/08/09 and probaly earlier aswell.
