holy shite so i just read through what is required to apply for a grant; AUSA is full of shit.

Squiggles, I need a detailed memberlist showing who's a student and who isn't, who's paid how much, a fucking 2009 budget and summary of all our capital/assets etc etc plus minutes from our last meeting

I then need to write a short essay bullshitting about how this reflects the theme of inclusion and diversity within the university student culture.

Then, provided it is all in by the deadline in october, they'll hold an interview to assess if the money will go to a good use.

If we can be fucked doing all that, they'll put money into our bank account. We'll need a bank account, and it'll need to be audited....

This jumping through hoops annoys me greatly - How many people are seriously keen considering it's in the middle of exams?

Oh, and I don't have time to do any of this; so it will proceed at SMC pace, miss the deadline, and no moneys for us anyway.

And now we know why there was never any attempt to get money for a track day

And in the event we do get it granted i have to pay for it then AUSA reimburses me
However should you feel the desire to actually complete that form, i can provide you with the RRRS grant as a benchmark for the bullshitting

You don't get money for free. Any grant is much the same usually, you need to demonstrate that you are actually responsible and going to use the money in the way that you say you will.

I'm not surprised and to be honest I would have been a bit shocked if it was anything else. All they want is to show the club has a proper fiscal structure, good record keeping and a solid idea of what to do with the money.

That actually sounds easy for free money. Don't you guys have any accounting/B-commerce students? Or is everyone doing Mechatronics?

What are you trying to swindle AUSA into paying for?

So why the hell did you run for the position if you knew you wouldn't have any time for doing anything as part of it? Because everyone would of course find it perfectly acceptable to only get one issue of Craccum every two months because the editor took the job and then was "too busy".

Now stop bitching. Kick Dan (our treasurer, if you've forgotten) and tell him he has a deadline of two weeks to get our budget sorted and a copy of it in your hand. Kick Dushy (our secretary) and tell him he has two weeks to get our minutes sorted and a copy of them in your hand. Kick Stephen (our president) and tell him he has two weeks to get you a full and complete copy of our memberlist. And then kick yourself in the skull because ALL you have to do is a single-page short essay asking for some green stuff.

Clearly you have epically failed done very well at that Management paper you were bitching about.

    All? All? : :

    We're

Proper fiscal structure? El Presidente sticks the gold coins in his pocket, isn't that good enough.
Good record keeping? Shit, does SMC have any accountancy student members?
Good idea what to do with the money? Ah, now THAT one I can answer and more

Seriously, Can't you just copy last years? Or, failing that, do what all good accountants do, and make it up!

Budget and balance sheet are easy enough, bearing in mind that the SMC doesn't HAVE any assets (unless you count Conelius as an asset), if you get stuck just tell em how many members there are in theory and I'll create one.

    From the grant thingy
The Grants Committee also looks favourably on clubs that are organised, fiscally responsible, punctual, actively recruit members, fundraise, are generally active the entire year and will benefit significantly from being awarded a grant

    Not a hope in hell!

Has the SMC reaffiliated itself. Says you have to do that by May. And supply audited copy of accounts.

Stephen has a copy of the minutes. I went to type them up after the last AGM and he had done it. Next AGM I will take the minutes. If club members wish, I will be happy to take minutes at chillers if there is a portion of the time where official club business is being discussed.

I vote that andrew still kicks himself in the head though...just for a "laff"
