You're forgetting a couple of things - the Blackbird has a fairing, and said fairing will keep a lot of the cold air off the handgrips anyway.

But anyone who says heated grips are for wussies would certainly change their tune if they used some on a really cold day...

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    My two cents,

I purchased my KRR from MT Eden, excellant service!! got a great deal paying cash and trading in my old bike. They wouldnt let me leave until they had shown me how everything on the bike works e.g where to put oil, how the petcock works etc..My chain was making a funny noise at 2000ks so went in at 4:00 one day and they adjusted it on the spot with no charges...800k service also only cost $40 ..

Ermm which ones are Chris and Mike? I usually chat to an older guy and another fellow who always wears a hat...

Another good point, they are happy to do services on Saturdays as long as its booked in a week before which is fair enough.

Chris is the older guy with his head shaved (don't want people to know he's thin on top, so takes it all off) and he owns the black ZX10 which is usually outside catchin rays.

Mike is the guy that normally looks like he sleeps on the street, but he assures me he doesn't.

I'm under the impression they both (Chris and Mike) own the shop as a partnership.

Carl (might be the one with the hat you refer to) is the skinnier shorter one, Chris's brother.

Then there's the taller bald bloke and a skinny taller one. The first, I forget his name (Mark may be?), and the second is Gary I think. Both been there a couple of months now. Gary seems to have a little VBS, but is harmless and helpful like the rest..

As bike shops go they are pretty good.Bought a couple of bikes off them and both have been good.I think 1960 is mikes birthday,or is it 1860.They have had a change around with the mechanics and i think its for the better.

    So true...

The reason upstairs don't talk to downstairs too much is that they prefer to keep them as seperate departments. I asked them why this was so while I was in testdriving etc and they said one of the reasons is that when they pull bikes apart on import and check them, they tend to do a much more damning report on their (Mt Eden cycles) bikes than bikes bought in off the road (just to give upstairs a little bit of 'stick'). Independence promotes self management as well.
This is also so that the departments can function independently, less overhead reporting to down/upstair etc.

I can't remember all the reasons but I hope this clears it up a little

Guys anybody who runs a company can't get it right all the time. Its the nature of the beast. As Mt Eden became more and more popular so their resources became more stretched. It was first noticed in the shop so they took on Wiggles. Then the workshop got overbusy so they took on a new mechanic making 4 in total (I think)
They also have a dismantling department -(city MC dismantlers)
Guys If you have a beef with them I am more than happy to go in there with you to discuss it with Mike and Chris.
Every member of staff there is geniunely committed to customer service and they hate getting it wrong.
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
