Couldn't you have done away with the battery and ran the 12v power from the car?

If you hook it up to the trailer left hand indicator light you will get a pulse effect. Proven to remove inground dirt even faster!

if you want to get real fancy on it, connect up the "auxilary" pin on your trailer connectors to both the vehicle battery and the battery, this way whenever the trailer is on the vehicle with the vehicle running the battery will be charging

    edit:

theres a flaw with this idea. the flaw is on starting the vehicle will try to draw too much current thru this cable from the trailer battery. and also for charging, the trailer will draw too much current if the trailer battery is low. i will try to come up with a better idea before anyone attempts this.
