ABS Breaks wreaking the fun since the 1950's
NAC turned out to be the cheapest by far
NAC were cheapest when I insured my 250 and thankfully didn't need to use their services. I switched to Kiwbike (Swann) when I got my 600 and did use their service.
Reasonably easy process, a little bit of tooing and froing between assessor, dealer (repairer) and insurer to wrap up the claim but got a full payout in the end.
Price for reinsuring went way up tho with a claim next to my name![]()

Hmm - i am alive which i guess is good.
avoided head on with a car on my side of road by shoulder barging a power pole and doing a bit of a slide - ended up with busted foot, ankle, graft, collar bone - am stuck in wheelchair for six weeks (three more weeks to go!!). So yes i think i came out ok.
As for the insurance - Swann offered me helmet insurance which i dident take, well it ends up that my house contents insurance covers all my gear including helmet! I have been paid out $960 from a claim of $1100 due to clothing depreciation, AMP is my home insurance and am pleased with the outcome.
Swann have taken the bike for assesment, they asked if i prefered any repairer, i nominated colemans and they dident have any problem. took a week to pick up bike though
yes went through swann directly.

OH yeah +1 for Kiwibike. They're fantastic.
Also all your gear should be covered by any basic home and contents. ASB did all my gear over the phone, cash straight into my account 24 hours later. No questions, no receipts. Just my word for it.
And that was on the basic 'flatters / students cover'
Nice eh?

Don't buy insurance using price as a sole criteria.
Think about it - all insurers are underwriting the same population (in general, some insurers like Classic Cover have age limits), so how do you make your premium cheaper than the others?
It may be cutting expenses (like customer service).
It may be harsh settlements.
Sus out their service - Search this and similar forums, talk to your mates, talk to the service managers at your local bike shops.

Yep, and can vouch for them. I had my laundry flood, which ruined all the flooring upstairs and half the carpet downstairs also after it followed the DVS trunking and came out the vent/thing.
Been a very straightforward ordeal, and they were really good. They even went as far as to replace the whole downstairs carpet instead of just half, so there won't be a big join in the middle.
Yes it's house rather than bike, but still i'm pretty confident with them and would highly reccommend.
So you ended up with how much? (after depreciation and excess)
Surely $960 is before your excess.....Otherwise your excess AND depreciation is only $140.....Does'nt quite look right.

Teach its owner to fix it and it'll break in some way you've never seen before.
My mistake - total claim -$1250, still quite happy though since they paid for all my shitty old work clothes that i had cut off me.
I got quoted from Vero, and National Auto gave me $150 cheaper! Mind you depends on your excess, and your ncb!
i got quotes from alot of places. state gave me the best deal. $238 a year.. thank you very much. that was for a hyosung gt250r 2006. $4500 cover. learner licence and yes it is comprehensive cover
Swann insurance has come through - I think it could have been done quicker tho. Bike has been writen off, insured for 4000, minus excess of 250, plus learner excess of 500, then take off the remaining premiums i owe for the rest of the year and i end up with almost 3100.
Recon I will try a different insurer in regards to excess. 264 premium p/a.
I work for volvo trucks in onehunga and we see heaps of crash jobs and i totally agree with oscar. Service managers would/should have an idea of insurace companies reputations
I will be going to the nearest honda dealers for a chat when i want to insure my new (hopefully!) CBR250.
Also for me a quick settlement is a big issue since I don't have any other transport to fall back on so would need either a replacement bike or my own bike fixed pretty quick.
I have recently used Golightly Insurance (Christchurch). They operate through Vero. You can make monthly payments at no extra cost and they also cover your gear. David (Golightly) also rides and is extremely helpful.
