    K5 GSXR1000 meets Mr Quasi

Just went into the local Suzuki agent to pick up a few bits for my track bike and noticed a new GSXR1000 K5 sitting there all alone.
Being the shy type I wasnt sure what I should do but the was obviously a mutual attraction thing going on, so I took a deep breath and went over to her and said hi, Unbelievable she said "fuck of your smell like a kwaka" that was the end of the romance basically but before I left I had a good look at her arse and I can confirm its good, its all good

The pipe which from pictures I have seen looked bad in reality looks awesome and is a real nice addition to the bike, certainly an advancement on the ICBM launcher of the K4
The tail is very nice, it had a definate Ducati style to it, and finished the rear nicely, infact the tail and pipe were the highlights.
Indicators upfront are nicely tucked into the mirrors and the rear Indicators are moulded into the tailpiece, so no jutty out bits, it looks good.
I was quite disappointed with the front (from a personal perspective) as I think they need to restyle it (as I think its ugly) on the face of it I didnt notice any changes.
Tacho and switches are slighty different ,for example the kill switch has grip prints on it, and the Control lights are situated differently on the dash.

The sale guy was telling me it was 189 HP, is that right ,boy thats some grunt!!

well thats my impressions, would I buy one? 22K probably not, would I want one, yeah for sure !!
I would like to take one for a ride, it would be interesting to compare it to the k4 which I spent a few hours riding on 22 on sunday, I would imagine it would be a hell of a lot quicker if 189 hp is right, maybe to quick ?

    Later
Ive run out of fucks to give

22k for that level of performance is HUUUuuuuuuuuge bang-for-bucks.
Gotta wonder at all of these 180+ hp claims though when last years 1000's were supposed to make about 180 but "only" dynoed in the 150's
"Oh but that doesn't take ram air into account" say the manufacturers- since you'd need a dyno in a wind tunnel to check, I guess they can claim what they like eh? A bit like giving the weight for a bike that has no engine oil, brake fluid, fork oil, battery electrolite, petrol, coolant or grease and has been stuck in a dehumidifier.
Sorry- getting cynical in my old age.

One of my riding partners with a K1 GSXR 1000 was due to take that demonstrator model for a ride (I assume you're talking about Road and Sport) but it didn't turn up on the appointed day so he's kept his K1 and bought a Legacy Blitzen instead! If my info is correct, that demonstrator is the only one in the country and is doing the rounds of the big dealers. R&S did tune his K1 on their new dyno though to match his Scorpion pipe and he said that the extra midrange is remarkable.

Thought exactly the same thing Quasi... But i think the tail is more MV Augusta than Ducati...

Personally I would have one for 22 grand... And in 2006 im hopefully going to buy one...

    Thats insane.

189hp (at the crank presumably) & 166kg gives a power to weight of 1.13hp per kg.

That means that at 200kg & ~100hp my 888 wouldn't even qualify as a sports tourer by todays standards. I know it's not the quickest thing out there and it's even slower when I'm on it, but I thought it was quick enough for most NZ roads.

Who's got a spare 22k to donate to the starving/homeless Eddieb fund? It would go to a good cause, not wasted frivolously on some insanely fast motorcycle, honest!

Well I hope they can sort those minor clitches (doesn't go and doesn't work)before the production run starts.

Sounds like sickle manufacturers have taken on Gordon Moore's law of product advancement but in this case it's the sickles dat r getting lighter each year while getting subsequent increases in hp.
