    Getting back into MX

    Hello all,

1st post been reading the site for the last few weeks trying to learn as much as possible. I used to ride dirtbikes when I was younger then found cars were more fun.

Now my dilemma I want to get back into trail rides not hard out racing.. But fast enough to keep up with my mates. I'm 180cms and weigh about 90kgs, I have been looking at 125's and 250's.

Ideas I am throwing around at the moment..

    1994 KDX200, 2000 CR125, 1998 YZ125, 1994 CRM250, 1999 CR250.

I know the CRM and KDX are a lil detuned for enduro etc, I also like the fact they require a little less maintenence. I have up to $2200 to spend so anything else you'd recommend I'd love to hear it

    Thanks

Welcome to the Dirt Division mate.
I guess cars were more fun up until the long arm of the law reached into all our pockets for going over a 100k's an hour.
I'm about the same height and weight as you and I spent $2200 on a 93kdx250 which has served me really well over the last 16 mnths.I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis when I was 35 and had to drop a lot of activities due to pain etc.Hence why I didnt go out and buy a new bike as I wasnt sure if the sport was going to do any good or bad to my condition.50 trail rides later and I am thinking of a new bike.
One thing I must say about the kdx is that they are quite bulletproof and very easy to maintain. They also produced them for around 20 yrs so parts are plentiful.
Hope you find a bike soon and best of luck.
Whether you think you can or cant - you will always be right.

Well after looking into a particular bike a little more. The 1994 KDX200 is in fact a KDX200 engine in a 1993 KX Frame. Things are looking up

Is there much benefit in having the inverted fork? I thought all KDX from 1994 onwards had them. But most inbetween 1995 and 2000 dont seem to have them??

could be wrong but i don't think any KDXs have USDs. the one you're talking about may be in a KX frame or even just have a KX front end
