    Claim or fix?

Ok so i'm looking at selling my lil ninja 250 , but i'v managed go for a quick slide along the motorway on it, and it has a few scratches on the fairings, 2 cracks and a couple of scrapes on the exhaust.

I'm just wanting some opinions as to whether i should make an insurance claim (this accident happening about 3 months ago) or whether I should just get it done up alil then sell her as is?

    Cheers

How much is it insured for? How much is the excess? How much do you reckon someone would pay for it if you fix it up?

excess is 1K, fully insured (7K value, tho the price of this model has gone up by a grand). I'm not too sure about how much it would cost to fix it. If anybody has fixed fairings before, is it expensive?

Also, there is the dent in the "no claims bonus" (if you have that) to consider.

Pictures? Maybe? If you claim on it the insurance company will probably want to replace the entire panel if it has a crack.

9 times outta ten they'll put an aftermarket exhaust on though cos stock is more expensive for 250's i guess. so you could sell it with a better exhaust maybe?

Claim. You can always withdraw the claim without it affecting anything, if it's not worth it.

Probably not worth it - no offense, but it is a 250cc.

Find someone to plastic weld the cracks, polish the pipes, and sell it.

250's are purpose bikes, hold their value and people expect them to have had a slide or two.

Check to see how much it will cost. Chances are you'll put in a claim as fairings are bloody expensive. Seeing as the bike is fairly new, you'll take a huge hit if it looks patched up.

I'll give the insurance company a call and see what they say. I'v never put in a claim before. Should i let them know that i'm intending to sell or that the accident happened a while ago? Does it any of this info make a difference?

you're meant to tell the about any accidents etc straight away... not 3 months later when you decide you might want to make a claim..

my insurance went from 380 to 500 a year after my claim, so all in all probably still worth it

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
