The weight is wet with 23L of fuel. Still no lightweight though. They do look smart. I like them but they should be a twin cylinder I reckon. Then they'd be something to give rival the BMW parallel twins. Not sure about the screen either, very KTMish. They buffet the "bejesus" out of ya !

Yip. Very excited and there are a lot of extras available. Once we have fitted all the extras his bike will be on display in our shop for a couple of weeks until he needs it. I will post some pics on here once it is done.

The original Dakar model had a tow hitch to drag it out when it was buried a metre deep in sand. A nice Retro touch.

Went and sat on one of these today. Quite cool really, with a pretty slim feel to it. bit funny looking but ok, but the bestest part is the replaceable abs plastic bits on the side for when (if) you drop it . Bit too pricey for me though. $16k can be spent betterer for me anyway.

The "690 Travel" was announced at the dealer conference, IIRC. It is to the 690 Adventure what the F650GS is to the F650GS Dakar.

Some sites such as Bikez.com list curb (wet) weight as 166kg.

Most of those sites are horrendously unreliable. We've had this discussion before; they usually put KTM's half-wet weights as wet, and they simply make stuff up, AFAICS. (edit: but 166kg probably isn't too far out for a 13L tank, that's 156kg half-wet)

Both the DR's were a bit less than the KTM.
I had a heavy seat, TA had luggage and we both had half full IMS tanks.

If so, then I was misled. I was given the impression it would fix two of the major gripes of the 640A: seat height and vibes. A fairing on an SM is just not the same thing.
