Just do it - It's an epic trip. Heed the warnings re: fuel and bike condition, and don't be an arse on that road - you are a long way from any help.

I did the trip in March - Gisborne to Whakatane on a Saturday. My favourite day of my whole NZ trip - you'll love it. Don't forget to stop and have a look around and take pictures. Road's a little rough in places but adds to the adventure - its an epic ride.![]()

Yeah the Magna was great on that sort of road. You see some really strange stuff out that way - really not sure where the Emu came from. Fortunately I saw it before we both became road kill. Ruatoria is cool. There was a guy in the supermarket carpark cracking a whip when I went through
