    Which fuel to Use

    I have a 2008 CBR125R (The fuel injected version).

What octane fuel (91, 95 or 98) should I use?

    Thanks!

Whatever Honda recommend (should be in the user's manual, and if it's not, phone the dealer). Generally go for the lowest acceptable octane - anything else is costing you more and giving you no better performance.
Just bear in mind NZ petrol octane rating is RON.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

My guess is compression on that would be quite high.

So going on a hunch that it might not run very well on 91. 95 would be my guess?

11:1 compression, should run on 91 no problems. But check the manual to get a definite answer.

I use 91 generally. I have tried the higher octane stuff and whilst I notice very little difference in performance, I do get a few more Ks out of a tank.

    Found on a Canadian forum...
Honda says: Use minimum 86 octane OR higher. It's a judgement call on your part to see if there is any noticeable difference in ride quality using Premium versus regular.
    He got a response, too...
Thanks for the tip regarding the octane. I started using 87 in the cbr 125 for the last 2000km's and it seemed peppy-er. With the 91 and 94 Ultra stuff I found it bogged a bit. Also saved me a good chunk of money.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I think that'd be the same as the Mrkn octane ratings, where 87 is the equivalent of our 91RON.

your right. Their 86/87 is our 91. And they go upto 91 in 1 point steps so their 91 is about 96. And then their 94 is about 98-100 for us.
