Never been trackside at supercross before, but made the effort to get to the Motueka round on Sunday - albeit only for the first couple of races due to other commitments.

    Fcuking impressive!!!

Hey, I'm a superx n00b and it was the best riders in the country, but man it's well worth a look.
    Cheers,
    Colin

    Supercross Title Heats up,

Round 3 of the NZ Supercross Champs heated up on Saturday night in Tokoroa, Ben Townley (Mt Manganui) who had been dominating the premier Supercross open Class had a scary looking crash in the first race giving Rivals a chance to close the points gap, with Tokoroa employing the triple challenge which put all 3 races back to back Townley had little time to get the bike straightened up and back on the line, with less than 5 minutes before the 2nd race was set to start Townley returned to the line looking a bit tender, and missing the front number plate, however normal service returned in races two and 3 where Ben Townley executed early leads into wins, his 9-1-1 moto results leaving him 3rd overall for the night.

The night was won by Papamoa’s Cody Cooper, who after fighting back from injuries and sickness early in the series beat out fellow Papamoa resident Mason Phillips, Cooper went 1-3-2 to Phillips’s 2-2-3 to claim the victory ,

The series standings are still close heading into the final round at Manakau City this Saturday night with Townley leading with 162, but a log jam behind him with Christchurch’s Justin McDonald on 136, and Cooper and Phillips tied on 135,

The Supercross Lites class was again a Battle with Queenstown’s Scott Columb coming out on top with 2-1-1 results over double class ironman Mason Phillips 1-2-2; these two have been going at it over the whole series, with Phillip’s only 7 points behind heading into the final round.

Final Round, January 23rd, Manakau City, gates open 3pm, racing starts 5pm, more information on www.supercross.co.nz

Looking forward to this Saturday night - is it worth the extra $15 for a grandstand seat?
