    Wanna make some coin?

I hate to say it but if you are interested in making some good dosh in the coming years get on your bike.

    Why?

There are several huge projects in the Oz oil and gas industry that mean trades, operators and construction staff are going to be in huge demand. Then there the obvious flow on benefits to supply and support business's.

Gorgon: an ExxonMobil/Chevron/Shell project on WA's North West Shelf is touted as a single project "Recession Buster", with an estimated 6000 construction staff required. I hear they are building a 150 man camp just for the crew to start building the main camp. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au...68-643,00.html

Icthys: an Inpex/Total LNG project. WA dicked them around so they are piping the gas 850km's from the Browse Basin to Darwin for. processing http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...d=awMrUtSwd.AY

Pluto: Woodsides LNG project on WA's North West shelf. Phase 1 is under construction and already word is about that it is going to triple in size. http://www.woodside.com.au/Our+Business/Projects/Pluto/

Demand for workers? Woodside is so worried about the demand for skilled workers that it has offered it's employees bonuses of between 50 and 100% of salary over three years to keep them onboard. Unfortunately I don't work for Woodside, goddamnit. http://business.smh.com.au/business/...0903-f9ya.html

    The opportunies are there.........

You don't have to go THAT far. There is also a big project under way by BHP Billiton in Gladstone, Queenland to build a large LNG processing plant - Sunshine Coast anyone?

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Yep, my company is also involved in a project over there, but the big $$$ are gonna be further West. The conditions will be worse, it's more remote and you'll be paid accordingly. Opportunities abound for folks to set themselves up though.

I'm gonna be keeping my eye out for unskilled labour in those sorts of areas, just to help pay off my training cost of getting my CPL!
