    Picked it up today

Went down to Te Awamutu an picked up the XS today,Checked tyres at gas station an found 10kg in front,Chain needed lube an adjusting,One loose indicator,Well he did say he knew nothing.
(no kidding)Off up the back road from Te Awamutu to Ngaruawhia,
The road is good as always, sun shining and only one cop,Busy ruining someone elses day.The bike runs sweet but needs rear shocks, the things on it now are pogo sticks,Front end needs a brace,But they all do an I knew that,The seat has to go,Bloody thing holds you in one place,The wroug place.Pull into Ngarauwhia feeling pretty good about how she runs an all,now for the main highway an the bloody cars. Was a bit worryed I would end up with some XYG zing zing Toyomotor on my tail but the old girl keeps em, honest. At one stage Mr plod goes past the other way,I look down 130k,Oh crap,But no worries he must be late for shift change because I don,t see him again.Get home with no problems, got a slight oil leak, will be from counter shaft or
clutch push rod, eazy fix.Think I will go for a ride tomorrow.

Oh boy oh boy... picked up the fizzer today... after waiting for six weeks its finally mine!

We've spent the last two days moving in to the new house and I'm so sore that last night I had to get up at 3.00 am to have a bath to ease the pain.

But 10 o'clock this morning it all changed! Hobbled out of bed, had a coffee, into my wife's best friend (who'd agreed to drop me off before helping her sort out the kitchen) and off to Motorcycle City.

Added bonus - a vintage and classic bikes auction - checked out so many nice bikes - including a beautiful condition CB350 twin - my first bike - nostalgia heaven. And they gave me a free new helmet with the bike!

But back to the bike. Its a beauty. A few scuff marks on the side from falling off its sidestand but and some obvious repainting on the magnesium bits, but the suspension is nice and tight, the brakes are strong and the new Sportmax on the back is nice and grippy. I was rapt that when I got home, there was only 3/4 inch of the back tyre unscuffed, so its handling nice. Very confidence-inspiring.

I'm looking forward to getting to know my new baby. The only bad points today - only spending an hour on the bike cause I had to continue unpacking the house, and the cop who gave me a ticket for doing 70km down Ward St, Upper Hutt on the way home.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Shit. Just reread my post. When I said I was into my wife's best friend, I meant into my wife's best friends CAR.

    Lucky she doesn't read this....

Ah what a beaut day yesterday was. Living at the base of the Rimutakas (Upper Hutt) and a lovely 19° C by 10.30, I just had to get on the new bike and go.

We're still unpacking so I promised the wife I'd be just a short while and heading on North to the Rimutakas.

The bike was just great, plenty of power on the straights and a heap of grip on the corners.

Just blew it on two corners (left handers - obviously my chicken-out side) where I blew the start of the corner and couldn't get the bike over far enough and ended up with the bike straight after I hung on the anchors.

So, the sum up, a glorious day, and I even managed to keep the ride down to two and a half hours! Wife not impressed... as expected.

Tell you what though, that seat's hard. My arse is still hurting, even though it seemed like I was only sitting on it one buttock at a time!

Pic of the bike is in members bike pic.

I have posted a pic on here somewhere.
As for the project,The bike runs well now but it needs a new cam chain, tyres, steering head bearing conversion, swing arm bush conversion, fork brace, seat, tank, rear wheel, and more money than I have right now.Have just changed chain an sprockets, will do cam chain over xmas,Then fork brace,Tarozzi from OZ for NZ$180.00,Then head an swingarm conversion, then seat an tank as money allows,Plus, plus, plus.
Rome was not built in a day and I think the Romans had more cash than me,Well a hell of a lot of slaves anyway.
    Cheers.
