Oh boy oh boy... picked up the fizzer today... after waiting for six weeks its finally mine!
We've spent the last two days moving in to the new house and I'm so sore that last night I had to get up at 3.00 am to have a bath to ease the pain.
But 10 o'clock this morning it all changed! Hobbled out of bed, had a coffee, into my wife's best friend (who'd agreed to drop me off before helping her sort out the kitchen) and off to Motorcycle City.
Added bonus - a vintage and classic bikes auction - checked out so many nice bikes - including a beautiful condition CB350 twin - my first bike - nostalgia heaven. And they gave me a free new helmet with the bike!
But back to the bike. Its a beauty. A few scuff marks on the side from falling off its sidestand but and some obvious repainting on the magnesium bits, but the suspension is nice and tight, the brakes are strong and the new Sportmax on the back is nice and grippy. I was rapt that when I got home, there was only 3/4 inch of the back tyre unscuffed, so its handling nice. Very confidence-inspiring.
I'm looking forward to getting to know my new baby. The only bad points today - only spending an hour on the bike cause I had to continue unpacking the house, and the cop who gave me a ticket for doing 70km down Ward St, Upper Hutt on the way home.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
