Then started test rides across the two blocks which make up the front yard ~ then instead of waiting for Merete to come home from work and vid the moment ; I off down the road ~ could not help myself ~ lol

So successful first ride but no video... Adjust the clutch again ~ Then started raining again ~ So hopefully put in another ride tomorrow and video the second ride ~ l

I like those old Tridents. But the bar choice is weird, never seen them mounted like that before.

And those bar ends MUST GO. Some 90's aftermarket tat on a 70s bike.

Even if you sand them or paint them.

Rest looks great, but you knew that already.

    Blah

Well ~ FINALLY ~ after several weeks of screwing around .. being screwed around and miss-informed, consultations and debate ~

On what started out as a very rainy morning I headed out to get the Trident finally checked by officialdom for a road worthy ticket ~

Long story shorter, the mechanics were more nervous about it all than the final home straight at the RTA/ DR&T office ~

The "spanner inspectors" reckoned I would be up for all sorts of dramas as it was never registered previously in QLD ~ I was a bundle of nerves by the tiem I pulled the biek up at the QLD Gov motor registry office!!

But the girl simply corrected my 'pre-armed' details by stating that as long as the paper work was in order they happy as the machine was manufactured prior to June 1976 when VIN plates were introduced in Australia ~

And most have heard of some real terror tales of folks trying to run the gauntlet of the roads and transports departments ~

I guess I can give thanks in that I had a GOOD hair day!!

SO NOW I am road legal ~ and have already sorted a few minor tweak and tune issues since returning to base with a new number plate in hand !!

TIME TO PARTEEE!!! And already cutting the miles ~ and its GREAT ~

Dave ~ you jinxed me.. The RH bar end dropped off ~ LOL

They're usually refered to as "ACE" bars. All the rage in the 60s and 70s. Back in vouge with the nouve Cafe racer set by all accounts.

nice bike, its a pity they weren't developed properly back in the early 60s when the first prototype was built

great engine that should have been developed further

There were some intriguing prototypes built including a four cylinder version ~ The Quadrant.

But early tests simply showed a weight gain and little performance gain.

Then there was the triple in the Norton Commando frame.

And a double OHC version ~ but alas the ship/s were taking on excess water by then and it was deck chairs over board; AKA; lose excess weights including prototypes ~

Additionally the earlier BSA/ Triumph Fury and Bandits ( twins 350 DOHC ) also bit the dust despite Millions being invested ~

Yeah I know what they are, just they aren't usually mounted on such an angle up.
