    Looking at Christchurch

In the next couple of years we are looking at getting out of the rat race and relocating to the South Island, most likely Christchurch rural area. I have been down to CC a number of times on business but dont really know the area that well.
I am keen to start researching but would like a kick start with regards to the Rural areas, (good, bad). I have briefly looked at such areas as Cust, but not sure location wise. A life style block would be perfectly fine. I would like it within driving distance of CC with regards to work. Any pointers much appreciated. Schooling is a priority. (Curren age 6 and 1 month old)
The art of being wise is knowing what to overlook.

Depending on you choice of work, there are plenty of options within an hours drive in almost any direction which will probably suit what you are looking for.
There are lots of good communites, like tripplebee suggests, you would find to your liking.
My only suggestion it keeping to the north of chch, around the foot hills as the weather is better than tne south, where the easterly wind off the sea is not nice
To be old and wise, first you must be young and stupid.
