Bleed nipple leak?

hey guys,
after putting new line/bleeding the brakes, seems to be a slow leak coming from the thread of the bleed nipple, and applying pressure on the rear brake doesnt increase/decresae the leak..

was thinking thread tape but heard to stay away from anything like that on the brakes...

any ideas? cheers

Yes replace the bleed nipple ... Or take it out and spin it in a drill where you can reface the business end with a file
If its leaking from any other banjo joint make sure you are using the copper washers.

Hmm, I frequently use thread tape on bleed nipples so as I can vacuum bleed systems. Have been for many years and not had any brakes fail or seen any adverse effects yet. I do hope it's not bad.

I'd heard that thread tape is fine - pretty sure it was in the Q&A section of a magazine I recently read. I've used it in the past on a clutch nipple with no problems.

Waste of time using thread tape. Bleed nipples have a conical seat. The thread only guides the bleed nipple to it.
The "leaking" you are seeing is just residual fluid that was caught in the threads whilst the nipple was off the seat, it's quite normal. It looks worse than it is

What he says. I thought I had a bleed nipple leaking once... then I noticed it was fluid pushing out when I was putting the rubber caps back on. Give the calipers a hose down with water and check them the next day. They should be fine.

Don't be surprised if a bit more weeps out... there would have been fluid around the threads, plus in the actual orifice in the nipple.
A little fluid goes a long way, that's what makes it look worse than it is

I thought I had a bleed nipple leaking once... then I noticed it was fluid pushing out when I was putting the rubber caps back on.

Would like to clarify that when I was pushing the rubber caps back on the bleed nipples - the fluid was leaking up from the thread. Pulling on the brake lever didn't cause any seepage. Both calipers did it. So figured there was some channel for the remaining brake fluid in the nipple to get out past the thread.
