Wanting to get into MotoX

hi guys, i just broken up with my girl friend of a year, and my mate want me to get into riding with him. at first i was going to get a pit bike to muck around on....but, in the weekend my mate let me ride his yz250y. and now i am hooked and dont want a tiny pit bike.

I want something to learn on but still enough to give me the rush, looking at around 5-6k. anyone know anyone who has anything for sale in Auckland or some ideas on waht to get.. my mate said either a 2-stroke 125 or a 4-stoke 250.

RM125 or YZ125 would be a good bike for MX. Gotta rev them though.

How big are you? a 125 is a great bike to ride and you learn to ride faster on them, but a 250 is more fun. a 250 4stroke is also a good bike, and you will probably enjoy it a lot more being a new rider! The 4 stroke has much more usable power.

Go down to a couple of dealers and try one.

how much do 2nd hand ones go, and do the dealer to good deals on finance etc

5-6k should get you a 05-07 4 stroke 250 in good nick in a private sale at least.

be careful buying 2nd hand 4strokes if you dont know the bikes history,they can be real expensive to rebuild if they havnt been maintained properly

For 5/6k you can get a mint bike mate. Suzuki RM125 I would say.

Remember you have to get all the gear as well yeh? Id save about $1000 for gear alone.

I think that Rupe for his 07 KXF250 for about 5. that leaves enough for a rebuild.

So yeah, but a bike and budget in a fresh top end what ever you get and don't believe most sellers with their claims of only 5 hours on the top end. A new piston and a visit to Barty5 is cheap insurance.

I know of an 07 KXF250 for about that money or less... Aftermarket exhaust and graphics kit.. It seems to be in very good condition.. PM me if you want to know more
