Yeah just got one after selling Dr650se..
Havent done much yet but as to 2 up the dr was not the one... Transalp should be fine.. better than a Dakar? I would think.
Screen.. Im happy with road so far. Similar to a 1200 bandit. so dont think I will change as dont want too high a screen off the tar.

TransAlps always seem to be under-appreciated in New Zealand, for some obscure reason!

I had a 650 and really enjoyed it, haven't seen any of the 700's in the flesh yet!

    They should be good bikes!

Reliable and well-built. But: over-priced. A twin with the power of a single.
For a road oriented bike: a wee-strom is better. For an off-road oriented bike there are lots of better bikes. While I'm very happy with my Pegaso (IMHO a better bike in virtually all respects than a Transalp (only exception might be long distances two-up) - I rode a TA through 9000km of South America in November), but if buying an equivalent bike to the TA I'd look closely at the BMW F"650" twin, which has a similar pricing. The TAs we had in South America had extended screens that worked well.

    Cheers

Met a guy in Coryong (Vic, AUS) in March whilst on a ride there. He had a new Transalp, with panniers. He parked it on the sidestand towards the road camber and offered me a "sit-on". I'm a fairly strong (6ft) guy, but I could barely lift in off the sidestand. I later checked the specs and figured, with gas and panniers, I was lifting 225kg off the stand. I have nothing against (or for) the TA but this is a HEAVY bike!!!

    Want another experience!

Try the same thing with a 955i Triumph Tiger fully laden (including pillion) it's technique, you get used to it but don't make any mistakes!

Everything else about the Tiger makes it worth it!
