Are you allowed to take it for a spin in the weekend? i.e is it always in your possession? It would be a classey act to turn up to a kiwibiker ride on.

Another question, are the purrrty flashy lights LED's? or something looks pretty snazzy - I wouldnt mind being pulled over by that beast, its front looks bigger than my rear? which brings another question is it running the standard gear/kit as in wheels and brakes as the normal Beemer?

    thanks.

I would think that the 1100 BMW can keep up with most vehicles. Obviously he wouldn't exeed the legal limit by a ridiculous amount just to catch a lunatic road racer on a super-sportsbike...all he needs is the rego number!

Off the record, do the police do any mods to their patrol bikes BC or are they all stock standard?

Sorry wasnt really thinking I was thinking of more in high traffic where a smaller bike would be able to filter better, forgetting about how people move out of the way of coppers on a mission, god I get dumber every second.

Oh and if he could mod it, 'May I suggest the turbo boost?!? -Kit' that would be mean, I would get chased just to hear the turbo whine...

It makes the BB look like a 600, not an easy feat to accomplish. I, unfortunately have had the mis-fortune to see one up close...

I do take it for spins on the weekend, but only when I'm working (which is most weekends!). I take it home and I am the only one who rides it.

Yes, the red and blue lights are LED's - there is a set of lights on the rear as well plus a rotating red pole light as well.

Bike is pretty much standard apart from the police mods.

    Congrats BC.

Do you know if there are actually any bike cops in Christchurch. I don't remember ever seeing any here.

Still think you'd be better with a sports tourer based machine. But I suppose with the added weight requirements a bohemith(sp?) like the bemmer is the only real option. Although I have heard of forces overseas getting the odd 'busa, etc.

So all thats required to stop you when you are running from the pigs is a red traffic light?

Made a hypothetical person turn left instead of running the lights... but I can't comment on how hypothetical WINJA is

Foly Huck! The term "Behemoth" comes to mind! I recall a certain other noteworthy 'bird on this forum being called the "Blue Whale" - and that sodding Beemer makes your Bird look like a minnow.

Does it come with a turret as well? If so, what armament can you mount in it?

Congrats on the cool "company car" - tried to get the boss to spring for an official IT Dept bike (in the tender ministrations of yours truly of course) but he wouldn't wear it.

Both very nice rides BC, and I'm sure the BM is something you can ride all day without getting tired.

Like everyone else though, I've never seen a shrunken Blackbird before!

No, there are no police bikes in the South Island at all.

The UK has Blackbird police bikes and a few others as well I believe.

I thought onearmedbandit got pinged by one the other day in Chch?

I know a Wgtn based mate has had to come down south to escort the cycle tour in southland, but I figured they'd have at least a couple down there? Or is it just the big metropolis of Wgtn and Auck?
