Sunday night - stupid arsehole imitating a cop...
I wrote this a few days ago, and thought about not posting it. But fuck it, why not. This was Sunday night, driving back to Auckland from Vegas…
Just had a fucking annoying experience that, honestly, just wicks me off.
Driving home in the cage last night, en route from Ngongotaha back to the big city lights of Aucks – long stream of traffic sitting on 27 behind a useless 80 k per hour guy. For those that don’t know SH27, that’s the one that goes through Matamata, and it’s pretty much a straight line.
So, being 2 cars back, behind a guy in a Commodore who is tailgating the 80 k dickhead, I decide to do a sensible but quick overtake; checking for lights on the rear tray before I jump. Since there is no gap, I have to take both cars at once, which I do, and since I’m not a moron, I do a cautious double take at the driver of the Commodore as I pass to make sure he doesn’t have a pornstache and radar top box.
So, happily on our way, doing 110 clicks (dog and babe in the car…), when I see Commodore guy do a big swerve out, then jump in behind me following at about a Christians narrow mind distance behind me. He gets on his RT, and follows me up the road for a while with little separation.
But, after 5 minutes of this bullshit, still no pull over.
So, I slow right down to 95, he backs off.
So I nudge it back up to 105. He starts tailgating again.
So, I slow down to 90 k’s, and after a few minutes, someone does what I did, and does the big overtake, no heroics or excess speed – and Commodore guy jumps on his back bumper, RT up to the bumper - same bullshit that he was pulling with me.
So, thinking, WTF?, I drive up to his back bumper, no lights, pull alongside, no radar, just this fat middle aged dickhead with an RT in his hand. Looking at the car closely, it looks like a REPMOBILE, with this fat fucktard doing this cop imitation thing for his own jollies.
The rego plate was ELR588 – we lost sight of him because after we took a close look, he decided to give it a boot full and fuck off up the road.
But, correct me if I’m wrong here, isn’t there supposed to be some law about imitating a cop? Surely, this behaviour counts as imitation?
It’s diametrically opposed to the sanitised existence of the Lemmings around me in the Dilbert Cartoon hell I live in; it’s life at full volume, perfect colour with high resolution and 10,000 watts of amplification.
