    Not too tired

so I've read (on kb, so it must be true) that pirelli's and metzelers are from the same factory.

    Is it true?

    if yes
Can I assume that a diablo and a metzeler may be very very similar .. or even the same? would it therefore be ok to mix and match the tyres.

    if no
Can I assume that mixing pirelli's with metzeler's may be a bad idea

    some random info:
I have a Z6 on the back, with heaps of life left; my front tyre however is nearing shagged. I'm thinking of putting a diablo on the front.

    Thoughts?

Diablo's suck. Not like suck to the ground, but just suck.
On the positive side, they didn't last very long.

pirelli's and metzelers do come from the same factory but each "company / brand is run independent. They are made using a different process with different rubber composite (if that makes sense)
I have a good write up about this at home so if you need more info I can put it on tonight.

Diablo strada will work better then diablo with Z6 on back , profile is closer , if the stranger thinks Diablos suck he must be a legend on the track cos they're better then most riders .

    Yes seriously.
That said, I am absolutely certain that different tyres suit different bikes, so hey, maybe they be good for you.
This was on my XT660, which is a big arse single. It seems to eat tyres - except that I have a PR2 on the rear now and that's holding up pretty well and has way better wet grip - though as I say, on that bike.

PS. I'm a big Conti fan. Don't find they last too good, but if they only have one draw back it's not so bad.

Definitely, i've recently put pp2ct rear and pp front, and in the wet I don't trust it. (the front)
It's skipped out on me so many times, and makes me nervous.
Only in the wet, and only the front.

In the dry they feel great.

I never had this problem with contis. Even other Hornet riders on the same tyres don't agree with me, and love the pp's.

I'm probably just weird. (or perhaps the front is a one off dud?)

I reacon it's also got a lot to do with the rider.

Whether they are from the same factory or not doesn't matter, unless they are not the same tyre (composition/tread/size etc.).

You have to match up your tyres.

Ok, so we're talking tyres for the track here then, sorry my bad.
For the sake of clarification how many racers run diablo's on the track?

I had a bike that ran whatever rubbish i could put on it.
dont think it ever had a matched set. Nor did it crash while on unmatched rubber.

The most fun combination was a Z6R and a pilot power 2ct FR
