Yea, I know. I used to have one It's a package deal... the sound, the speed, the fun factor, the amount of gas it drinks

Doesn't bother me in the least! After all, you don't think riding a bike actually saves money do you?

And not to mention a ridiculously over sized rear wheel, lack of fairings, bugger all performance, pip squeak horn, no fuel gauge and other things that make it an unsuitable 250 for anyone!

Makes you wonder why you even rode it! Better off getting a bus or walking

He is getting good economy, he is just travelling alot. No amount of change in riding style is going to save you from a large bill if you're doing >1000kms per week.

If he travels everywhere on 1 wheel he'll surely get better mileage? Right. Less contact, less friction, less friction = better mileage.

    Surely my logic is infallible.

But you use more gas getting it on the back wheel... and you use up the rear tyre more, use the front less...

    The rear tyre costs more...

If I do nothibng but commute on the bike the gas bill is about 25/28 bucks per week, depending on weather/road conditions. If it's fine with low traffic volumes I pour it on a bit. Just a bit.

It's 25 k's each way, so 250k's is it for the week and I can just squeeze that out of a tank. In the depths of winter (with the hot-air box keeping things running smoothly) it goes up a bit.

Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. If fuel consumption was an issue I'd be walking. I'd be leaving home before I went to bed, but that's not the issue.

    Who cares????
