    What about bronz?

Every now and then there is some news or a posting on KB about the bronz organisation. http://www.bronz.org.nz/

    Questions I have are:
    1. Is it effective in lobbying change at government level?
    2. Does bronz reflect the views of KB? - that is probably a hard ask.
    3. Why is there no branch in the Wellington area?
    4. What benefits would I gain from joining?
    5. Do any KBrs belong?
    Here for the ride.

BRONZ are an organisation that could do a world of good for Motorcycling in NZ.

Unfortunately they have their heads buried firmly in the sand.

There should be a Wellington Branch - get in contact through the website and see what they say.

No direct benefit to yourself. All the work done is volunteer, so you get to feel good for helping other motorcyclists with things like the 'Ride Right Ride Safe' course - I guess that helps to reinforce certain skills in your own riding. You will be able to voice your opinion and have your say at meetings regarding legislation changes and that sort of thing.

I'm pretty sure that 'The Stranger' is a member. While I know a few of the other members in the Auckland region I don't think they are on KB.

The first part is true, if you want to make change then get involved - the more people speaking up at the bottom, the more the people at the top have to listen.

But he won't get as many kudos for actually trying to walk the walk, as he would complaining on the internet.

    There is no Wellington Branch.

The last incumbent President of the Wellington BRONZ chapter was a raving nutter and did more harm than good.

I've never believed that any organisation with "Rights" in the title could ever be a positive political force for anything.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

    Exactly.

We've taken Motorcycling way past the point where we have the 'right' to demand anything. We need to do a bit of back tracking.

For your information, I'm currently trying to get together a Taupo based ACC/Police/Motorcyclist scheme similar to that which T.G.W. is part of in Tauranga.

(But as an aside - the day I give a fuckin shit what you think of me I'll be sure to let you know).

Well that all good and dandy then. Your initial stance of "making motorcyclists take a good hard look at themselves" was all well and good, and I supported [most of] that message.

But I rather lost respect when that was all that you ever seemed to do.

Will be interested to see what develops.

But back onto topic (On KB? What madness is this?), BRONZ helps Auckland motorcyclists quite a lot in terms of fighting ACCouncil for even the basic things that motorcyclists need like parking etc. They're doing a job that other bikers are too lazy to do anything about except whinge. Props to them.

    Questions I have are:
    1. Is it effective in lobbying change at government level?

There have been some good successes, but it is a process performed by volunteers in world of professional lobbyists. The membership base is lamentably small. More people should join - would give more momentum.

    1. Does bronz reflect the views of KB? - that is probably a hard ask.

There is no views of KB - there are views of individuals who post on KB. Some of those are not reflected by bronz policy. Some are.
Bronz has formal meetings and voting process where the majority of members views (who turn up to vote) are represented.

    1. Why is there no branch in the Wellington area?

Nobody can be arsed doing it.

    1. What benefits would I gain from joining?

You'd be doing something. All welcome and needed.

    1. Do any KBrs belong?

    Several contributors are office bearers.
