I have cut 2 rubber loops from an old inner tube and put them on the forks between the top and bottom triple clamp to secure it to the side of the fork behind an acerbis headlight/number plate.
My old XR650 caught fire once on an adventure ride.

Might be a good idea to remove/edit any references to bikes causing fires in forests, don't want to provide any more ammunition that may result in further restrictions to riding areas eh?

I just carry mine in my back pack, plenty of padding back there with the body armour, back pack and water bladder between myself and the extinguisher, there are more painful things that will happen than an injury from that small canister. Don't do what some do and carry it in your airbox, I've seen the results of that practice and the ruined engine if the extinguisher comes loose and goes off.

Twice the displacement, twice the cost and a decibel problem, I'll pass on the inside brraaaap!!!

Firstly the extinguishes that you buy do almost nothing. We have tried just for the sake of it. I have 2 sets of amour one for MX and one has a fire extinguisher cable tied on the back which is never coming off. I would never drill holes in a bike to hold a extinguisher. I have also seen a extunguisher get holes in it from a big bail and the shit goes all over your bike!

Has anyone done this & have some advice for getting it in a good "out of the way" place or do you recommend carrying it in a backpack. I'd hate to fall onto my back with one of those in the pack... would hurt like hell - Not that we ever plan to fall LOL but it happens.

    Advice would be most appreciated.

    Cheers,

I bought a part from Spectrum on the Shore like the Husky's have. It's hard plastic with like an insert for the fire extinguisher to sit in. Bolted it onto my CRF250 and then put cable ties around it.

Oh Kezza Fish I'm sure you've got something to add to this! I'm all for disproving FF's response about the similarities between the fire extinguisher, etc. I guess I've got the fire extinguisher and the necessary parts! More interested to find out how well it fits with Kezza!

I got pig sick of taping/cable tying the damn thing onto my handlebars so I ve fabricated an aluminum number plate and bolted the supplied bracket vertically on the number plate. I also used 3 velcro cable bunchers (made by 3M) bolted under the bracket so they wrap around the extinguisher bottle to prevent it moving in the bracket.

i've thought about doing that before. probably the best solution of them all. definatly the safest place for it to not get ripped / broken off

The only reason I only ride in the Iron man Class is I have no friends left to enter the two man events,
    my own fault really.

he added a bit of padding to the extingusher so the traps dig in a hold tight
