    MaCauley and Godley Rivers

Wondered if anyone had ridden to either MaCauley Hut up the MaCauley River or to Red Stag Hut up the Godley River, both beyond the head of lake Tekapo.

Been up there is the truck, MaCauley is a lot rougher that the Godley, both would be better on a lighter weight trailie than an adventure bike.

Could still be done but easier for rock hopping on something light, Godley is far easier though.

MaCauley hut is a Castle and is setup up nicely and has about 18 bunks, wood fired oven and solar lighting, Red Stag is a basic wee two man but the Park Royal in bad weather.

Great weekend away, will be up there this weekend MTBing!

    Thanks for the comment.
We will be on a 990 & 1150 so may be a bit of a struggle.
Enjoy your MTB, MaCauley Hut does look like it is in a fantastic spot

Yup - up to the Red Stag Hut about 20 years ago on a Honda XL125........a longish trip on a heavily laden bike.

990 would be Ok but the 1150 pipes might get a beating.
