    Well impressed

Its not often a random wof trip leaves me speachless.... and well impressed...

I didn't get a good look or have my camera but the guy getting a wof in front of me had a Triumph Daytona 955i in Black. I was thinking, that bike looks - 'odd'... Then I thought - bloody tossers writter 'electic' on the side... pfft.... 'done a nice job mind'...

Well he had done more than the signwriting....

The wof guy told me he had bought it with a totalled engine and fitted and electic motor and batteries... Hes working on improving the range...

So - was this the future that whizzed off down Kapiti rd with no other noise than the spinning of the chain and the tyres on the road - an at a speed that gave no clue it was not a triumph 955i daytona....

Fuck me - my 1980 Moto Guzzi Le Mans seemed old before I got the wof - it seemed bloody stone aged going home... Well done that man!!!!!!

    Now I've heard it all.

The best part of the Triumph Daytona is the deep purrrr.

The sewing machine sound doesn't quite have the same effect.

Im not 100% sure if he had the correct spelling on the side or if you have spelt electric incorrect twice in your post.

    OMG

I just had a flash in to the future of KB - 20 years on:

I personally like the sound of Ducati quad V electrics - nothing sounds better than that deep wine on start up.

Nah those IL4 armatures on the new CBRRR screaming at 35,000 rpm make my scrotum really pulsate.

What kind of range did it have?

Probably to the WOF station and back home again, then it required a 36 hour charge from a 3 phase power point that he's sharing with the stove, so it's cold baked beans for a day and a half before gets a hot meal again.

I don't know anything much about it - was too gob smacked to ask but the Kiwi 'home mechanic' tradition lives on.....

I'll see if I can track the guy down for a proper look see

I've seen a photo of it. If I understand correctly, he was going to run it at the IOM TT for electric bikes this year bur ran out of time. KB'er Freebird knows all about it in his official capacity at Land Transport.

It's a local guy aye Paul, relative of Gazza's ! Was after a few bits off it there a while back before i swapped out my 955 !
Hope to see it out more, now he has it vinned !!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Many (many!) years ago, when I lived in Hamiltron East, there was a guy just down the road from us who had a home-built electric car (looked it too!), that he used to go do the shopping in. Dunno what it was powered by, but silent it was not: it was possibly twice as loud as a normal car. I suspect some of this was the flat aluminium bodywork acting as a loudspeaker box, and the choice of motor(s) and drive mechanism.

I doubt whether it would pass muster under today's bureaucracy.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
