    Night trail riding?

    Ok,
Now I have a bike that is fairly quiet and that has a headlight, is there anywhere to trail ride in the evening/ night? Safely /Legally?
    Auckland area.

I have the normal KTM headlight and a high powered HID mtb headlight.

Anyone keen for some night time fun?

Yes...Its on the to do list after the Two man. Really easy to organise so its not really a problem.

Any thoughts ideas on the times, what time do you want to finish etc, is welcome.

The forest closes at 6.00pm at present as the logging contractors have been getting their machinery vandalised so it really depends on when they will be gone.

think the rides at maramarua have been cancelled till further notice cos of a couple of dickheads not sticking to tracks.
But........ I know one crazy bastard Daffydd likes to do 12 hour rides into the coromandel ranges often not returning til dark.....
Now look what you,ve done .... your mum's upset.

I'm planning on going to the Sandpit every Thursday after work. ( during day light savings of course ) Wish it would close at 9PM instead of 7.

For the Sandpit night rides I reckon 5PM-10PM or something would be awesome. Dunno how you would do it though, open to public or as a trail ride?

Just open to the public like the last ones. Trouble is its now daylight saving time so it really needs to be in the next four weeks otherwise the Undie man comes out around midnight.

We had it at the same price so in essence you can ride from 9.00am to when ever. Peeps just follow the arrows as its really easy to see oncoming lights. Had light sticks at intersections. Seemed to do the trick. Trouble is finding the breakdowns during the dark. Ahhh were was he again?

will the magic bus be back? I'm keen for a night ride rekon a spare torch would be a good plan incase of a meeting with a tree wrecking the main one

Yeah right...unfortunately not. There is a dormatory/Back packers that friends of ours run. It backs onto The Sandpit(unfortunately no direct access) and is only $20 bucks per head. Great spot to lear up on 1000acres.. Modern/safe facilities so its worth remembering for those that do travel.
