    Q. for someone in Auckland

Hey guy, I'm heading up to Auckland for a couple of months for work, but since it's for such a short time I'm having accommodation issues, and as a result will probably end up in the city itself (since that's where most of the furnished apartments are). What I need to get an idea of is how long it's likely to take me to ride from West Auckland (my only other option at this stage), and the central city to Manurewa in the mornings (around 7.30-45 I guess)? Google maps says it'll take around 35min, assuming not accounting for traffic...

Also, any ideas on which areas are easy access to Manurewa (west)? Having mass difficulties finding an apartment for the short term ATM, most have a four month min (I'm only there two and a half). Any ideas welcomed

    Thanks

If you are comfortable splitting I'd allow 30 mins from West Auckland to Central, and another ... 30 to Manukau?

If you sit in traffic make that 45 and 35

Always plan for a bit longer and if ur early you can get a coffee.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

I havent lived in Auckland since 01' but, the morning traffic out of the city is no problem, its getting into the city thats the bummer. So, if you live in Auckland city itself and are heading to South Auckland daily? no worries. If you are out West and heading to South Auckland, you will have to fight the North Western each morning. Depending on what time you head home, you can expect heavy traffic form about 3-30pm onwards.

Unless its raining, a Friday arvo or theres been an accident. I work in East Tamaki and lived central for a bit and the longest trip (thanks to rain) took me nearly 3 hours!!!

There are cheap fully furnished flats around Flatbush/Botany/Manukau/Takanini which might be better suited to you.

My room in my current flat might be up for grabs in a month or two...

Lanesplitting in traffic, 20 minutes from Manurewa to the central city.

Central Auckland to West Auckland is about 15 minutes, splitting in traffic.

Edit: Should be plenty of closer flats than that?

What he says. I am sure there has got to be plenty of places availiable in Manukau, Papakura even Pukekohe. It would cut down on your commute time.

Used to take me 30 - 35 mins from West (Te Atatu) to Mt wellington so probably allow 45 - 50. The trip home always took longer for some reason.

Glen Eden to Middlemore takes me about 30-40 mins leaving at 0645 and the same returning at 1600.

If you chose to go onto the Northwestern and then onto the Southern it will take longer due to the traffic all going in that direction.

Will you be travelling by car or bike? A car may double your time.

    This is the problem.
Manurewa is South Auckland, not West Auckland.

when i lived in auckland i travelled from pukekohe to panmure every day and if i got stuck in traffic it could take up to 2hrs. Pukekohe to manurewa is about 30min and there is always plenty of accommodtion there and its a pretty good place to live. Maybe try waiuku aswell.
